Terms and Conditions  

General:

Litterbox’s storage service will provide pick up, transportation, storage, and delivery of the Customer’s belongings based on the chosen transportation package at the time of the order. The Customer is responsible for packing personal goods in boxes that are compliant with Litterbox’s specifications (i.e. size, weight) listed on the website and being ready for storage workers to pick them up. Litterbox will transport the Customer’s belongings to an appropriate storage facility chosen at the sole discretion of Litterbox. Litterbox will return the Customer’s belongings to the Customer during dates and times established by Litterbox in accordance with school and residence hall schedules or in accordance with off-campus buildings. The Customer agrees to be present to receive the goods at the specified delivery date, time, and location. Anything found in violation of this policy is subject to additional fees.
A roommate or friend may take a student's place for pick-up or delivery. The student must notify Litterbox of this and provide their contact information at least 72 hours before the scheduled time. The person taking the place of the Customer must provide adequate identification. 
Change requests to the previously scheduled delivery date or location must be communicated by the Customer to Litterbox through email, at least 3 days prior to the new delivery date or originally scheduled delivery, whichever is applicable. Change requests made to delivery date or time less than 3 days (72 hours) of such delivery may be subject to a $35 additional fee. Change requests made to delivery date or time less than 1 day (24 hours) of such delivery may be subject to a $75 additional fee. If the student or person of the student's choosing misses a pick-up or delivery more than once, the student is subject to additional fees and a reschedule to a day and time frame of Litterbox’s choosing, or potential termination of the storage agreement.

Insurance:

The basic insurance and the additional insurance that the Customer may purchase, for stored items provide coverage against damage or loss of the Customer’s stored packages. The insurance does not cover the following items: jewelry, collectibles, cash, items of intangible value, extremely fragile items (as determined by Litterbox), improperly packed items, and/or any damage caused by force majeure. Litterbox provides basic insurance for the Customer’s storage package against loss or damage up to a value of $50 per box or package. Additional insurance is available for $20 and increases the maximum insurance coverage to $2000 for the entire storage order. If the Customer does not purchase additional insurance, the Customer agrees that the released value of each package is no greater than $50 and that Litterbox’s liability is limited to $50.
Litterbox provides only coverage which is secondary to Customer’s primary coverage which is his or her homeowner’s or renter’s insurance (or that of his or her legal guardians). Litterbox makes no representation concerning the adequacy of its insurance coverage or coordination of its insurance coverage with that of Customer.  Coordination of insurance coverage is solely the responsibility of Customer. The Customer agrees to claim any loss against any insurance carried by the Customer or the Customer’s parents initially, if available. The Customer will make claims against Litterbox only after exhausting other areas of coverage.
To the extent that the Customer does not obtain insurance coverage for the full value of his personal property stored or shipped with Litterbox, the Customer hereby agrees to assume all risk of loss, including damage or loss by burglary, fire, rust, water, changes in temperature, fumigation, vermin or other insects, or vandalism. Litterbox and its employees, authorized representatives, agents, and affiliates will not be responsible for, and the Customer hereby releases from, any loss, liability, claim, expense, damage to property or injury to persons that could have been insured (including without limitation any loss arising from the active or passive acts, omission or negligence of Litterbox or its agents, affiliates, authorized representatives and employees).
Damaged items must have evidence of physical damage to the exterior of the box or packaging of the item. Litterbox cannot be held liable for concealed damage to items within a crate, trunk, or other casing without physical damage to the exterior of the package, or damage related to the poor packing of the items. Damage to the exterior of the box, trunk, or other casing does not result in a presumption of liability by Litterbox.
Missing or damaged items must be reported to Litterbox within three (3) days of receiving items.

Transportation Packages and Box Limits:

Transportation packages will be selected by the customer while filling out the order form. We require the Customer to pack up their items. Then Litterbox employees will arrive at a scheduled time to the Customer’s on-campus location to pick up the items. If the Customer is not present during the scheduled time, he/she may be subject to additional fees. Litterbox offers 4.5 cubic feet boxes for purchase but allows Customers to provide their own boxes up to a capped 6 cubic feet. Any box or item exceeding a weight limit of 50 lbs is subject to additional fees. Failure to comply with these restrictions can lead to Litterbox not being able to store the Customer’s belongings or additional fees.

 

Pick Up and Delivery - Procedure and Terms:

Litterbox sets pickup and delivery dates and times. The schedule will be communicated directly to the Customer either at the time of sign up or as published on Litterbox’s website. Litterbox reserves the right to reschedule such times without prior notice to the Customer.
For storage services, Litterbox will provide packaging materials approximately one week prior to the commencement of the university move out week. Litterbox will notify the Customer in advance of the dates, times, and locations where the Litterbox materials can be obtained. It is the responsibility of the Customer to make arrangements to pick up the packaging materials during the times specified.
Litterbox will not pick up any items that are not properly packed in appropriate boxes or other appropriate shipping materials. The Customer is responsible for all damage to belongings inside the Litterbox packaging materials or anything else when caused by any items present in the packing materials. It is the Customer’s responsibility to pack his/her boxes or shipping boxes by his/her scheduled pickup time or the standard box drop off time.


Ownership of Property:

The Customer has represented and warranted to Litterbox that he/she is the legal owner or in lawful possession of the property and has the legal right and authority to contract for services of all of the property tendered to Litterbox.


Abandonment:

The Customer agrees that their failure to be present on the scheduled delivery date and time their failure to communicate with Litterbox concerning an alternate delivery arrangement constitutes abandonment of his stored possessions.
Customer agrees to pay Litterbox for all charges and fees relating to the failed delivery and further storage and shipping costs related to the abandonment of customer property. Litterbox has the right to assume ownership of the abandoned property after 60 days of the originally scheduled delivery date.


Refund Policy:

Registration fee is nonrefundable under any conditions.


Applicable Additional Fees:

  • Overweight Fee (Any item over 50 lbs): $100.00 per item

  • Appointment rerouting (applies if the truck has to wait or come back): $40.00

  • Appointment rescheduling/cancelation  (less than 72 hours prior to scheduled date): $35.00

  • Appointment rescheduling/cancelation (less than 24 hours prior to scheduled date): $75.00

  • Additional Mileage Fee (between 2-5 miles outside of campus): $200.00 - $300.00

  • Non-standard delivery dates: $200.00

  • Non-Standard delivery date + Additional mileage: $400.00 - $500.00

  • Request of Return (within 24hrs): $240.00

  • A $240.00 fee may be incurred if items are requested to be returned within 24 hours of pick-up due to non-payment or refusal to pay storage fees, depending on crew availability
